Trigger Warnings. This bio will include talks about war, injuries, death, and mental health. I do not claim to have personal experience with any of these things, but heavy research has been done in hopes of portraying everything realistically and respectfully. If there is anything offensive or disrespectful please come and talk to me as that is never my intention and I wish to learn and grow and make sure that Kit is being portrayed appropriately. Thank you.

The soldier above all others prays for peace, for it is the soldier who must suffer and bear the deepest wounds and scars of war.

Kit Beom is a military veteran having served fifteen years in the Republic of Korea Army as a medic. He served through the Japanese Occupation of Korea and Korean War. It was the end of the Korean War where the soldier was shot in the liver. After his recovery he was honorably discharged and began his civilian life. Life after the army took some adjusting, but Kit decided to continue his medical training and applied to medical school. After graduation he applied to a surgical residency, once completed he decided to do his fellowship in trauma surgery. Fifty-five years later he is one of the top doctors in his specialty and had earned himself the title of "Head of Trauma" at Augustine-Rotché Medical Institute.

At first impression:   Depending on where you meet Kit will determine your first impression of him. At the hospital he is very professional and strict. He takes the lead and is precise and clear with his instructions and expectations. Life and death rest in his hands and he is ready to do everything to make sure that life is what each patient of his is given the chance to continue experiencing. If you meet Kit out in the wild, he is very playful. The young fox is mischievous and likes to push buttons. He's incredibly friendly and witty, though if you push his buttons back he can be very stubborn and huffy. At 105 years old out of a (hopefully) 10,000 years there's a lot that he hasn't mastered yet when it comes to his Gumiho powers, but he does his best when needed.

Biography

Korea 1910. Japanese Occupation of Korea.
In May 1910, the Minister of War of Japan, Terauchi Masatake, was given a mission to finalize Japanese control over Korea after the previous treaties (the Japan–Korea Treaty of 1904 and the Japan–Korea Treaty of 1907) had made Korea a protectorate of Japan and had established Japanese hegemony over Korean domestic politics.
On 22 August 1910, Japan effectively annexed Korea with the Japan–Korea Treaty of 1910 signed by Ye Wanyong, Prime Minister of Korea, and Terauchi Masatake, who became the first Governor-General of Chōsen. The treaty became effective the same day and was published one week later. The treaty stipulated:Article 1: His Majesty the Emperor of Korea concedes completely and definitely his entire sovereignty over the whole Korean territory to His Majesty the Emperor of Japan.Article 2: His Majesty the Emperor of Japan accepts the concession stated in the previous article and consents to the annexation of Korea to the Empire of Japan.Korea 1945. End of Japanese Occupation. Division of Korea.Following the dropping of atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Soviet invasion of Manchuria, and the impending overrun of the Korean Peninsula by U.S. and Soviet forces, Japan surrendered to the Allied forces on 15 August 1945, ending 35 years of Japanese colonial rule, though Japanese troops remained in Southern Korea for several more weeks until fully withdrawing by mid-September.After the end of World War II in 1945, Korea was divided by the Soviet Union and the United States into two occupation zones at the 38th parallel, with plans for a future independent state. Due to political disagreements and influence from their backers, the zones formed their own governments in 1948. North Korea was led by Kim Il Sung in Pyongyang, and South Korea by Syngman Rhee in Seoul; both claimed to be the sole legitimate government of all of Korea and engaged in border clashes as internal unrest was fomented by communist groups in the south.

Korea 1950. The Korean War.On 25 June 1950, the Korean People's Army (KPA), equipped and trained by the Soviets, launched an invasion of the south. Seoul was captured by the KPA on 28 June, and by early August, the Republic of Korea Army (ROKA) and its allies were nearly defeated, holding onto only the Pusan Perimeter in the peninsula's southeast. On 15 September, UN forces landed at Inchon near Seoul, cutting off KPA troops and supply lines. UN forces broke out from the perimeter on 18 September, re-captured Seoul, and invaded North Korea in October, capturing Pyongyang and advancing towards the Yalu River—the border with China. On 19 October, the Chinese People's Volunteer Army (PVA) crossed the Yalu and entered the war on the side of the north. UN forces retreated from North Korea in December, following the PVA's first and second offensive. Communist forces captured Seoul again in January 1951 before losing it to a UN counter-offensive two months later. After an abortive Chinese spring offensive, UN forces retook territory roughly up to the 38th parallel. Armistice negotiations began in July 1951, but dragged on as the fighting became a war of attrition and the north suffered heavy damage from U.S. bombing.Korea 1953. End of the Korean War.Combat ended on 27 July 1953 with the signing of the Korean Armistice Agreement, which allowed the exchange of prisoners and created a 4-kilometre wide Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) along the frontline, with a Joint Security Area at Panmunjom. The conflict caused more than 1 million military deaths and an estimated 2-to-3 million civilian deaths. No peace treaty has been signed, making the war a frozen conflict.

Korea 1920 - Birth of a FoxLosing both parents to illness that could have been cured if only they could afford the medication was difficult on the eldest. At the age of only twelve she was in charge of her younger two siblings, ages six and nine. They took the streets, the younger siblings distracting adults while the eldest stole just enough food to ease the gnawing hunger. With no money they lived off the generosity of strangers and when that wasn’t enough they did their best to not get caught stealing. At the age of eighteen everything changed. Although puberty was delayed from malnutrition it didn’t stop fully. She was starting to get looks, comments, touches. She was pretty and it was getting her attention. She would run away from it, scared of the looks that men gave her, until the youngest sibling got sick. They had no money for medicine or doctors, barely enough for food. She made the decision to sell herself to men at night, to take their money so she could help her siblings. It was too late… by the time she saved enough, the littlest one passed, just like their parents. The middle child blamed their elder sister, after all she was the one who said they couldn’t get a job and help out. They ended up running away and the eldest was now all alone. She continued meeting men at night, taking their money for a few hours of affection. It was enough to get her a room, no longer out on the streets. She was able to eat, and she noticed a change in weight, it wasn’t very much, but enough to make her not look so malnourished. It was a surprise when the night of June 24th, 1920 rolled around, she started going into labor. The cries from her labor had the old grandmother from next door rushing over to help. She held her hand and wiped at her forehead with a cool cloth. It took three long hours before the baby was delivered. The old woman took the baby in her hands and gasped as what she looked back at was a baby with orangish red fox ears and two tails to match. As soon as the babe started wailing, filling it’s lungs with air for the first time, the mother started to bleed. Setting the babe down gently on the blanket the grandmother did all she could do to save the woman, but the shock of it all, the bleeding, it was too much. She died at 5:13am.With no one else, the grandmother took the baby home with her. She had heard stories of Gumihos, but had never come in contact with one before. This child was something special and she kept him.

Korea 1939. 19 Years old. With the start of World War II many Korean men were drafted to serve for the Japanese Army. At the same time Resistance Armies were fighting against the Japanese Rule of Korea. Wanting to help the humans, wanting to contribute to the efforts, Kit made sure to join the Resistance as a medic.Being part of something larger than himself, Kit didn't hide who he was, not when it was a great advantage. When transforming into his fox form his body is small, light, lithe, he can move quickly across the battlefield, he can easily weave through obstacles and get into small places that a human body can't.Whenever he reached his target he could transform back into his human form and take care of the injured. Kit moved so fast on the field he looked like a blaze of fire sprinting by, he was given the nickname "Firefox" among his fellow soldiers.Korea 1945. 25 Years old. With the Japanese Occupation of Korea now ended the Resistance Army joins the South side of the 38th parallel in what will soon be known as South Korea. Although World War II has come to an end, tensions in Korea were still high between the North and the South. Kit remains part of the army and starts to receive more medical training, a hands on learning as he's sent all over to help men, women, and children affected by the war.Korea 1950. 30 Years old.As an official Private of the ROKA, Kit "Firefox" Beom is on the frontlines of war once more. With 11 years of experience and training it wasn't only Kit's medical skills that improved, but his strategy and strength also improved. He was able to drag wounded soldiers to safety with his jaws (in his fox form) and carry soldiers twice his size to safety (in his human form).Korea 1953. 33 Years old. There's something ironic about the myth that Gumiho's eat human livers and the fact that Kit was shot in the liver while carrying another soldier to the medical tent. Still able to bring the other soldier in, someone else takes them before he collapses on the ground, the world starting to go black around the edges.

Korea 1954 - 34 Years OldKit's fellow medics and doctors were able to save his life, but only after removing about 50% of his liver. Because of the damage done and the time he'd need to recover, Kit "Firefox" Beom was Honorably Discharged from the ROKA at the age of 34 years old. With the army being all that Kit knew everything became quite scary. What was he going to do now?Getting recommendations from his superiors, Kit applies to Medical School wanting to switch his title from Medic to Doctor. He had a long haul ahead of him, four years of an undergraduate degree in biology, then four years of medical school. Another four years of residency in Emergency Medicine.Korea 1966 - 46 Years OldAfter twelve years, Kit is officially board certified in Emergency Medicine. That's not where he wants to stop though, he is more interested in treating trauma, so he joins a fellowship, a four year additional training in how to access and treat extreme traumas that might come though the emergency room. It would also come in handy if Kit were to ever rejoin the army, which is something that is always at the back of his mind now that he's fully recovered.Korea 1970 - 50 Years OldKit's fellowship is officially over and he is now considered one of the few specialists in trauma in South Korea.Korea 2025 - 105 Years OldMastering his craft "Dr. Firefox" is considered to be the leading specialist in trauma surgery. For a long while he traveled not only Korea, but other countries as well giving lectures and open viewing surgeries. He's done well for himself, but traveling gets tiring and Kit wants to put down roots, so he does so in Seoul. He applies to a hospital with glowing reviews, Augustine-Rotché Medical Institute. Once he got his acceptance letter, Kit prepares himself for his first day as Head of Trauma.

Mind over matter

Trigger Warnings: PTSD. Most days Kit is fine, he makes it through the day without incident. Today is not like most days. Today Kit finds himself stuck in traffic caused my heavy machinery. The sounds of the machines hitting hard pavement sound eerily like landmines exploding on the battlefield. Instantly the young fox is transported back in time to when he was a young medic trying to navigate the field of soldiers, deciding who needed him the most, avoiding gunshots and mines. Kit tries to cover his ears, but it's no use. His eyes are wide, he's sweating and breathing heavy with nothing and no one to ground him into the present. Heart racing the crowed sidewalk soon becomes a vision of wounded bodies at his feet, of lifeless eyes of those he couldn't save. Panic starts to take over as a scream is caught in his throat, wanting to cry out, but he makes no sound, clearly battling with his own mind. Will you be able to help the young fox out of it? Or only make it worse?

Over and Over Again

Trigger Warnings: Child Death & Mild OCD. Kit had never been good at accepting loss, accepting that there was just some people that he couldn't save. Today that loss comes in the form of a child, by the time she made it to the hospital, oxygen had been cut off from the brain for too long, she had lost too much blood. Kit wasn't going to give up on her, he was going to do his best to save that little girl and save the parents from a lifetime of grief and loss... but he couldn't. No one could have, but it still crushed the little fox to call out the time of death at 2:53am. While the nurses clean up the operating room Kit moves to the hand washing station and starts to wash his hands. Soap, lather, rub hands together, count to thirty, get in between fingers, count to thirty, scrub right hand nails on left hand palm, count to thirty, scrub left hand nails on right hand palm, count to thirty, rub hands together, count to thirty. Again. Again. Again. Kit doesn't know how long he's been washing his hands but the skin is starting to dry out and crack from over washing them. Will you be able to snap Kit out of it?

Ghost of You

Trigger Warnings: War. Being over a century Kit has seen himself in two wars in Korea. Fighting against the Japanese Occupation of Korea and the Korea War. It was his job to help and protect soldiers, taking the wounded and dragging them away from the fight for treatment, or even triaging them in the middle of the battlefield. He's used to seeing wounded men, sometimes wounded women, but when he sees a child out on the battlefield Kit starts to panic. Unsure how the child got there, he quickly runs over to the young one and scoops them up, carrying them back to base. He can't bring them into the medic tent, too many screams and gore that will traumatize the small one. Quickly he calls for a nurse and gets them to watch over the small one and keep them safe within the bounds of camp. He never sees that child again... until now, all grown up.

Phantom pain

Trigger Warnings: Gunshot Wounds. Phantom pain is usually found in amputees feeling pain in a limb that's no longer there, but every once in a while Kit gets a phantom pain on his right side where his liver is. The Gumiho had been shot there at the end of the Korean War and whenever he's overly stressed that feeling of being shot creeps up on him even though his liver is entirely fine. It had been a long shift and Kit was finally on his way home when the phantom pain kicked in. Grabbing his right side he bends over in pain, his breathing is labored, and pain is etched all over his face. Do you try and help the little fox thinking perhaps it's appendicitis, a kidney stone, gallbladder issues? So many organs are on the right side, but phantom pain? Have you heard of such a thing before?

Chew Toy

Trigger Warnings: NSFW. Kit takes a lot of pride in his teeth, he always brushes them in the morning and hour after he eats breakfast, at lunch an hour after he eats lunch, and before bedtime at 10pm. Since being in the military the little fox likes to keep to a schedule, but going back to his teeth, they are shiny and pearly white. His canines are long and sharp, and often he craves for something to sink his teeth into. What Kit likes bitting best is others. Whether it's playful biting others on the hand or arm-- or a little flirty biting others on the neck, their chest, pressure points on the wrist, Kit likes to bite. It's a good thing you like to be bitten because Kit is going to make you his new chew toy.

Pokemon go

Trigger Warnings: None. Firefox isn't just a name that Kit uses for a social media handle, he uses it for his gaming handles as well. When the little fox isn't at work he likes to indulge in gaming on his phone, his computer, even his tablet. He specifically asked for today off because of a Pokemon Go Tournament that was happening in the park this afternoon. There was even a chance to win an invitation to the Pokemon World Championships if you got into the winners bracket. Excitement coursed through the Gumiho's blood and he was ready to take on the world. Walking around the park he chose his best three Pokemon and went to work. The adrenaline rush coursed though him with every win and he was sure he would make it to the very top by the end of the tournament when someone slams into him causing him to drop his phone. It hits the pavement hard on the corner not only cracking the screen, but chipping it in places leaving it unusable. Kit drops to his knees and cries out in mourning for what could have been, how are you going to make this up to him? Do you even care?

Soonhee was a young woman just trying to help raise her siblings as both her parents had died from illness, they were too poor to afford medications. The same fate fell upon their youngest sibling. The middle sibling, blaming Soonhee ran away. Left alone she decided to sell herself to men at night. That's how she got pregnant with a Gumiho child. Unfortunately the trauma from giving birth was too much and she passed soon after giving birth.

  Beom Kyungja  Adoptive Grandma.
Having heard the young woman next door crying out in pain, she rushed over to help seeing that she was in labor. She was shocked to see the babe with red fox ears and two tails, but what shocked her more was all the blood coming from the mother. She tried to help, but it was in vein. She knew the woman was alone, so she promises to take good care of the babe, giving him the name "Kit" as it fit well with the species of Gumiho that the little one was.
